As I begin my campaign, one of the issues I want to address is the importance of having your voice heard. I believe in having direct and easy access to local government, utilizing all that modern technology has to offer us. One thing I’m going to do if elected next year as the city councilman for District 1 is to work on setting up a Microsoft SharePoint program for my district.
What exactly is this? Well, with this program, you can let me know your thoughts on anything from police patrols to road repairs, in addition, of course, to being able to reach me or my staff by phone or email–as I know that some constituents don’t have access to a computer. However, as a San Antonio Fire Department District Chief, I’ve seen the power of using this Microsoft tool in my department to help us work together on topics regarding our policies and procedures. Having seen its success, I want to set this up so that anyone living in the district can send me comments or input.
This is just one more way I hope to communicate with you in our increasing ‘information age’. Do you think that’d be helpful? Feel free to comment!
